JAYDA JIREH RAMJATTAN, an emergent from Parvati Girls Hindu College, is a multi-disciplinary mixed media eco artist from Trinidad and Tobago who is an overall creative. Her formal art education began at 5 years old when her parents recognized her unwavering passion for capturing images on paper. Her main choice of medium is acrylic, however this is combined with unusual and out of the box types of media to produce unexpected pieces that generate conversations and Art advocacy. She makes a concerted effort to capture topical issues and culture past and present. She channels her drive as a community and social justice activist and literary and environmental advocate into her creations so the art experience will motivate and inspire.
“I work on viewpoints that have caused me introspection. I try to make art impactful, as a powerful tool for expression, reflection and social commentary, recording and influencing history and cultural evolution. I believe art can foster understanding and inspire change. My aim is to provide a platform that transcends language, borders, and differences, to engage a sense of mental well-being and appreciation. If my art opens new perspectives and sparks conversation, I would be satisfied. “

Jayda also was a winner at In the Spotlight Competition by European Union Delegation to TT and Photographers Guild of TT. She aspires to change the trajectory of social justice and other topical issues. Using her art, she traverses several relevant issues such as Childs’ Rights, Women’s Rights, environmental awareness, Reading benefits and visits to local scenery. She is a champion for the advancement of transformative technology and digital education. She thinks that women are vastly underrepresented in the Tech industry. Additionally strives to impact the viewer with the essence of the art piece and hopes that the essence of each piece will resonate with viewers.
